Dreams

I have finally arrived!

It only took me 35 years to get here. Talk about taking baby steps!

Writing has always been my passion. My first experience was at 8 years old. I won an essay contest for my school district on Soil and Water Conservation.

I was the girl in middle school and Highschool that you would find in the library during lunch. Secretly, I dreamed of becoming a journalist. 🤓

Instead of following my career dreams, I followed my other dream.  Like most young girls, I wanted to be Cinderella. So at the young age of 19, I got married and started a family.

After doing the whole married thing, and by the way Cinderella isn’t all she’s cracked up to be. My children are a bit older now. They are 10 and 13. I am following my dreams one step at a time. I’m focusing on my children, my education and my career.

So what do you think? I know. I did the whole thing backwards! It might end up being one big disaster but I will enjoy every minute of it.

  1. Love this post C.E.! It’s exciting to be where you are now. And don’t think you did it all backwards– following your first dream has brought you to the place you are now and taught you so much to inform your writing!! And you have so many years left to write, and evolve (I’m 65 with grown kids and life is still unfolding…). So great to find your blog!! thanks for this hones post!

  2. I like those who follow a path that frequently stands out from others. There is no “wrong” path if it takes you to the destination you desire. Some may make it more difficult, but the outcome is commonly worth it. Enjoy the journey!

  3. Thank you for following my blog. My dream, from the time I was a small girl, was to be a wife and mom, and I am so grateful for my family. I have shared stories with families and friends for years, and forty plus years after I first dreamed of it, my book, Today’s Joy, Tomorrow’s Hope was published. God is the one who puts the desires in our hearts, and He is the one who gives us the passion, the gifts, and skills to fulfill our dreams. May you delight in the blessings of the journeys and joys headed your way!

  4. I’ve wanted to write a book all my life. (Who hasn’t?) And I too, have found myself off the path of my dreams at various times and in some brambly bushes. My Mom gave me a news clip a number of years back about an 80 something year old woman who published her first book. There’s still hope. Keep your focus and keep taking baby steps toward your heartfelt desires.

Thanks for visiting and following my blog. Best of luck to you!

  5. It’s great that you are starting now. I waited until I retired three years ago to start writing, my lifelong dream as well. Thank you for following my blog, and good luck with yours.

  6. Hi,
Nice to meet you and thanks for the follow. My page needs a lot of work. I need to re-write a lot of it. I just never seem to have the time.

  7. You’re walking down the same path I took many years ago. I married when I was 20, was a returning student in my 40s, had started writing for a large local newspaper, and was a wife and mother. You’ve got an amazing journey ahead. Enjoy it. And, thanks for visiting and following my blog. Photography is my latest journey.

  8. I’m honored C.E. to discover you following my blog. Thank you for that and I intend to return the favor. 🙂 What a great beginning for you. You write from the heart and that’s a lovely place to begin. I have a feeling that Proverbs 3:5,6 have been two of your favorite verses as they have been mine. (If you read about me on my “About” page, God has directed my paths and it has gone in many directions. And always interesting ones!) Blessings back,

  9. As the life you’ve lived will add depth to your writing, you haven’t really done anything backwards — you’re right on track, writing with passion about whatever God puts on your heart. Keep at it!

  10. I’m sure you’ll do well coz it’s your passion. I’m quite the opposite, I focused on career, then marriage, then now chasing those “baby’s steps”!

  11. From one C. E. to another, well done!
I too lived a long life with a full career before starting to write full time.
So we have both taken The Road Less Traveled, but it still might lead to where we are going.
    Good luck.

  12. I’m with you! Similar story here, I’m raising my 2 children, back in school getting my degree and building my career all while trying to find ways to build up and empower other women.
